The technical sessions at Offshore Energy Conference offer an update on specific technological solutions in the offshore energy industry. Offshore Energy also organizes (side) events together with partners.

Monday 9 October

The Offshore Energy Opening Gala Dinner and Awards Show brings the industry together to celebrate successes by presenting three industry awards: the Offshore Energy Young Engineer Award, Offshore Energy Public Outreach Award, and the Best Innovation in Offshore Energy Award. Despite challenging times in the industry, there are impressive achievements and innovations that require celebration. Nominees gain broad international recognition and significant market visibility through global media coverage. An expert jury will carefully evaluate all submissions and determine three final nominees per award. The Offshore Energy Opening Gala Dinner and Awards Show will be held at the National Maritime Museum in Amsterdam.

In 2016 EBN presented their "Netherlands Masterplan for decommissioning and re-use", developed in cooperation with NOGEPA and IRO. In 2017 we will take stock of national plans for North Sea decommissioning and reuse and what that means for operators, the supply chain and North Sea stakeholders. The session will also present lessons learned from recent decommissioning projects.

Despite lower oil and gas prices, the business case for E&P activities remains strong. Oil and gas are projected to account for more than 75% of total energy supply in 2035, albeit with shifts in energy demand and supply centers. This session will look at where future demand will come from but will especially address hot spots for production growth and related opportunities for the supply chain. Hot spots include Iran, Myanmar, Mexico and Brazil.

Fossil fuels will likely meet well over half of global energy demand. Non-fossil fuel production will grow significantly however and in some countries non-fossil fuels meets over 90% of electricity demand. This session offers a quick-scan of how several renewable energy markets are developing and where major commercial developments can be expected.

The EU Offshore Safety Directive has been incorporated in national legislations in EU member states. To ensure asset integrity, The Netherlands has established Industry Standard No. 90. The combined facts of ageing infrastructure on one hand and a focus on cost savings on the other make adequate and cost efficient asset integrity management a key concern. This session, organized in cooperation with NOGEPA, will look at the implementation of new industry standards, including Standard 48 on Independent Verification Management and Standard 49 on Safety and Environmental Critical Elements (SECE) Verification.

MAKING THE NEXT STEP TO OPTIMISE FOR THE FUTURE

The Dutch oil and gas sector is facing a challenge as over the coming decades, many of the oil and gas facilities/infrastructure reach the end of their economic life. This offers opportunities for the energy transition, because infrastructure may be re-used for renewable energy sources. Where this is not possible, the industry will dismantle the facilities striving for zero safety incidents and minimal environmental impact. In order to properly identify this task and investigate possibilities for re-use, EBN and NOGEPA, together with the Ministry of Economic Affairs, have joined forces in the set-up of a National Platform for Re-use & Decommissioning The Offshore Energy Exhibition & Conference 2017 offers the perfect opportunity to officially launch this platform amongst a large variety of national and international stakeholders from inside and outside the industry.

Dredging Today Conference

The world in which the dredging industry operates, is changing. Climate change, global trade developments and shifts in the world’s energy mix are but a few factors with significant impact on dredging. But where will the effects of climate change be felt most? And what public funds are available to pay for solutions that can protect vulnerable regions? We are also witnessing changes in client demands and with these in the role of dredging contractors. What business strategies do we see emerging and ultimately – what makes the dredging industry future proof?
